I bought mine years ago. I was very happy with it. But it did get old. I suspect it's because I didn't read the instructions and it seems that this scoop is not dishwasher safe. I used to throw it in the dishwasher. Anyway, I was rather annoyed when the non-stick coating went bad, so I went back to using my old stainless steel scoop. Well, it didn't take me long to realize how annoying that one was compared to the Good Cook Smart scoop. The ice cream would stick and there was no way to make a real nice ball. So I went on a search for a new Smart Scoop. After shopping around I found one at Albertson's for $6.99! Lower price and no shipping, sounds like a much better deal doesn't it?

The Basic "Spade" ice cream scoop: The most basic version is known as an ice cream spade and resembles a large flat spoon or spatula. The spade easily cuts into especially hard ice cream and often is used in conjunction with cold marble slabs to create custom flavors in gourmet ice cream parlors. Because of the tool's ability to form a flat sheet of ice cream, this style typically is chosen when constructing an ice cream cake.
