(More customer reviews)My wife and I were given this scoop nine years ago when we got married, and this scoop is going along as strong as we are. The handle contains a fluid (water? ethylene glycol? no one knows) that keeps the ice cream from freezing to the scoop, and the difference it makes is truly amazing. I have developed a habit of shaking the scoop a few times between "scoops", which (in my own mind at least) improves scooping performance, accelerating the transfer of heat from my hand to the scoop.
I think you're not supposed to wash this in the dishwasher, for fear the seal will leak, but we always ignore such warnings, and in nine years we've had no problems.
