The design is perfect for scooping (the front is higher, it scoops soo nicely in to round little balls), and the handle is thick and heavy, which makes it much easier to control, especially when scooping thicker ice creams. So far, this is my favorite ice cream scoop - I've had absolutely NO complaints about it! And as with most of my other KitchenAid products, it goes in the dishwasher with no problem!
