(More customer reviews)I bought this at my local C---co store for $24.99. I'd gone through other blenders that were more expensive such as Cuisinart, and some that were gimmicky like the Ninja. I use a blender periodically for basic pureeing or mincing so it didn't matter to me too much about crushing ice, although this does have an ice crush button. Still, I wondered if the basic model would cut it compared to the pricier beehive. So far it has. I am very pleased with it and even did a test on the ice crush just to see. It works well as long as you pulse. It has worked well enough that I have used it almost every day for small jobs.
The great thing about Osters is that you can use mason jars with a regular mouth as an alternative to the blender jar. I have whipped cream, beaten eggs, minced garlic, and made vinaigrette in smaller mason jars and not had to dirty the whole blender jar.
I'm very pleased with this purchase and also happy that I didn't spend more money.
