(More customer reviews)I had an old hand-me-down jiffy for years and it worked great, until my buddy backed over it. I bought one of these new ones thinking they would be even better and I was totally wrong. The recoil was broke right out of the box and it took almost two months and three phone calls to get the replacement. It never made any power and drilled like crap from day one. I finally found out after I sold it (at a huge loss) that the clutch was junk and the carb needed an adjustment. So in other words I bought a brand new auger and it came with a badly tuned carb, a junk clutch and a broken recoil. These are not the jiffy augers your dad and grandpa used to drill holes with. It is really embarrassing when you drag out this fancy looking thing and the guy next to you drills three holes to your one with some wal-mart piece of crap.
I have always liked the Eskimo augers that a few of my buddies own and after christmas I am most likely going to buy one of them. They really seem to be nicely built. My advice is invest in an eskimo or a strikemaster, don't let this augers fancy paint job fool you into thinking it is worth the money. Also, the blades are ridiculously expensive.
