This chiller set would make for a very nice present for someone who plans to do a great deal of higher-end entertaining, especially where drinking vodka is a traditional part of meals or snacks. It is very solid clear crystal glass, not traditional cut crystal, so it is neither elborate nor fancy. It is designed to be visually appealing but functional above all. Still, it does look nice on a table although I certainly would not make it part of any kind of dining room crystal display in a china cabinet. Just be aware that the chances to use this item are going to probably be infrequent for the average person. For example, in two years, I think I have used mine twice.
The bowl standing alone can also be used as a chiller for a dip of some kind, although that's not what it is made for. Still, there is a second possible use, and that's always handy. It cleaned up in the dishwasher with no problem at all.
The price is the only drawback. It seems a little steep, and the prospective buyer might want to check with the manufacturer directly to see if better prices are available. If you have a local "Linens & Things" that has not gone out of business, you might also check there since they often have this line on special for far less than usually advertised.
