(More customer reviews)It's just that simple - the plastic cookie scoops will break with use (as mine did after a few months of use), and they tend not to have a spring on the inside to release the dough from the scoop. You will end up having to pry the handles apart with both hands, which is incredibly tiresome if you are making more than just a few cookies. Look for an all-metal scoop with a wheel on the bottom and a heavy-duty spring between the handles. Oxo makes one with comfy grips, and Norpro also makes all-metal scoops with springs in a variety of sizes. A plastic scoop is only good for the once-in-a-blue-moon baker looking for a quick fix, but for a few dollars more you will have the scoop of a lifetime.
