KitchenAid 5-Quart Artisan Design Series Stand Mixer KSM155GB Review

I bought this product as an upgrade to my KSM150. I know it's not technically an upgrade, as the motor, size, and function are identical, however, it sure feels like it. The glass bowl, paired with the deep blue and high gloss shine, makes it look more like art than an appliance. It was delivered about 36 hours ago, and I am looking for more ways to use it in my daily cooking. I love the marked measurements on the glass bowl (which is thick, sturdy, and not quite as heavy as Pyrex which is bonus). It seems to run quieter and mix more thoroughly than my old mixer (which was bought in 2007). I should mention my old mixer was just fine, ran great, and I never had one problem with it. I don't have any reason to believe this mixer will not last my holiday baking and general use. I did not need it, however, I had to have it, and now I regret waiting the few weeks I researched and waited to order. I checked all the brands out, as I feel this will be my last stand mixer purchase for quite a while, and even though there are a ton of options out there, some offering more options for less money, I have had great success with Kitchen Aid small appliances, and did not want to give up the option of a funky color to save a few bucks, or spend the same with for a design I don't personally like. Though I originally planned to upgrade to the 6qt lift style, I am glad I looked around and found this because I am absolutely in LOVE.

KitchenAid Water Jacket Review

KitchenAid Water Jacket

The Water Jacket for the Kitchen Aid mixer was something I though was overkill until I bought one. Once you have it you will find more and more uses to make cooking and baking great.
I first used it to help cream butter and sugar for pastry dough and was amazed at how quickly it did the job. My next task was whipping cream for desserts and to fold into pudding. Last and certainly not least was keeping yeast warm and of course the dough. I am convinced that I saved twenty to thirty minutes of rise time when I made my famous kuchen (German cake).
This product is well worth the money if you love to cook and bake like I do.
Kitchen-Aid quality is matched by no other company. I am convinced that with care, my mixer and the accessories will outlast me and be able to be handed down to my children (they will probably fight over it). My oldest son is taking an interest in baking now !!
Thanks to Kithcen Aid for wonderful products

KitchenAid RVSA Slicer/Shredder Attachment for Stand Mixers Review

KitchenAid RVSA Slicer/Shredder Attachment for Stand Mixers

Nota Bene:
I have tried to contact Kitchen-Aid for over a month, wrote 4 EM via the KitchenAid customer support Website, and beside their promise to answer within 3 business day, I have yet to hear from them.
I'm truly disappointed with their customer support and the RSVA.
Kitchen-Hell: "for the way it's made"Well,
What a deception!
Probably the worst shredder I ever used.
I purchase this product in the idea that KitchenAid was a good brand (by experience), but I must admit that I have the feeling that I paid $50 for a very, very poor shredder, which should be sold $15 maximum. A $7 Walmart hand shredder makes a better job.
I have the feeling that KitchenAid just ripped me off.
I'm a mechanical engineer and I love to cook, and I'm normally the type to buy one excellent knife instead of 2 poor ones, but this time, I was fooled.
So , let's review the product:
First of all, the cones are not stainless steel, but regular steel, badly chromed.
It means that, one day or another, they will rust.
How can you tell? Use a magnet, if it is not sticking, it's a 18/10 stainless steel. (18% Chrome + 10% Nickel, a TRUE Stainless Steel)
Try with your kitchenaid mixing bowl, and you'll see.
It also means that if you ever try to sharpen the slicing blades, you'll take off the chrome and it WILL rust very quickly.
I'm sorry, but a brand like Kitchenaid should AT LEAST, provides Stainless Steel cones. Especially at 50 bucks a piece. (and I suppose that's why it is stated HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY), not allowed to use regular steel in a restaurant)
The blades are either dull, unevenly sharpened, or not at all(sides). It mashes or puree very well, but the cuts are uneven and messy. I just wanted a slicer, not a musher.
The sharpening on (my) slicing cones is visibly uneven. one side slices, the other not.
The gap between the cones and the body is too big, food goes in, get pushed in by the dull cones to end up in a mess.
The cones rotate unevenly, off balance, which adds to the previous mess.
The length of the blades is smaller than the size of the spout. (the cutting length should be a least the size of the spout, not smaller )
In short: everything that goes is those corners is miserably mashed So, as a result, in my opinion: buy something else.
Add $20 and buy yourself something decent. Plus, the attachment is so bulky that a food processor will not take much space.
My grade on a 10 scale: 3
Probably the worst shredder I ever used.
And if you ever decide to buy one , please contact me , for $25, you'll have an almost brand new one.

This attachment performs the cutting and shredding duties your food processor might: select the proper cone, slip it into the plastic housing, and attach all to your stand mixer's hub with a metal shaft. You can shred potatoes, onions, nuts, and chocolate, or slice vegetables for cooking or munching. While it adds versatility to your mixer, the unit is cumbersome to disassemble--more so than KitchenAid's other nifty attachments--and its several parts make it difficult to store. Still, it's easier on your arms than manual slicing and shredding, especially for large quantities, and all parts are dishwasher-safe. --Betsy Danheim

KitchenAid JE Citrus Juicer Stand Mixer Attachment Review

I really like this attachment and use it frequently. That said, I have some suggestions:
For users-
1. Use the KitchenAid mixing bowl to catch the juice, and place a large standard kitchen strainer across the bowl. This speeds things up a lot!
2. Rub some shortening on the aluminum shaft before inserting it into the brass sleeve. If you use your juicer a lot, this will greatly prolong its life.
For KitchenAid-
1. The plastic piece that inserts into the mixer should be made out of metal, instead of plastic with a metal sleve. On mine the plastic is cracking away from the brass.
2. The aluminum shaft should be brass or steel. As it is, the bearing surface is a small area of aluminum that even when lubricated, is showing lots of wear.

KitchenAid KN2WJ Water-Jacket Bowl for 5- and 6-Quart Lift-Model Stand Mixers Review

If you need this, you need it. It's good for lamingtons (an Australian classic) where you need a warm bath for the eggs if you're making Genoise cake from scratch and then a hot bath for the icing to keep it runny while you dip. Note that it's specific to 6 quart, bowl-lift mixers. It's very big but it needs to be for a 6 quart bowl.
The weak point is the tabs by which it hooks to the arms of the bowl-lift mechanism so that it goes up and down with the bowl. They're not exactly flimsy but they're very exposed and angular which means it's easy to damage yourself when washing/drying the bowl, and damage the tabs with a drop or heavy knock. In fact the KitchenAid packaging was grossly inadequate - just a cardboard box with no foam - so that the tabs were bent when the bowl arrived and had to be carefully straightened.

Take the hurry and worry out of home cooking and baking with this clever water-jacket bowl. Designed for use with KitchenAid stand mixers, the handy accessory offers a foolproof way to keep ingredients at their proper temperatures while mixing. To use, simply place the unit beneath a standard mixing bowl and secure it with its built-in hooks. Then, depending on the contents being mixed, fill the outer bowl with ice (great for mixing whipped cream, homemade ice cream, and other cold confections) or hot water (perfect when creaming mashed potatoes or making gravies or sauces), and mix as usual. The unit holds the inner bowl at a consistent temperature without adding moisture or condensation to its ingredients, making both holiday cooking and everyday dinners a breeze. It accommodates KitchenAid's 6-quart stand mixers and Professional 5 Plus Series stand mixers (models KP2671X, KT2651X, KD2661X, KB26G1X, KP26M1X, KV25G0X, KV25G8X, and KV25H0X; sold separately). A useful addition to any busy kitchen, the water-jacket bowl measures approximately 13 by 13 by 5 inches.

KitchenAid FPPA Mixer Attachment Pack for Stand Mixers Review

I have a KitchenAid and I must say, they are as good as their high reputation. I bought the mixer mainly to make bread, but what makes it even better are the accessories. These convert the stand mixer/dough maker into a vegetable processor, grinder and sausage maker. There is also a grain grinder that really works quite well. Here are the pros and cons of this set, as I see it:
Pros:
You get a decent meat grinder with two blades, coarse and fine. This means you can make ground turkey with no additives, ground chicken without added fat, or fresh ground beef. You can also grind meat for sausage (about which, later.)
You get a slicer similar to those hand-turned cone types that make cole slaw or waffled carrot slices.
Cons:
The sausage nozzle for filling the casings is not included. This is, in my opinion, really dumb. It's just a couple of pieces of molded plastic. For heaven's sake, include it.
The slicer is a bit clunky. If you don't put the bowl to catch the shreds just right, you get slaw all over. And sometimes it is hard to get the cone off the flanges of the connecting pin that fits into the mixer attachment point. But screwing it into the mixer and grabbing with a rubber mat usually works for me.
I prefer a mandoline, a food processor or even a big board and a really sharp chef's knife to the slicer, but it does save on counter space. So, this is a good thing to have as an addition to your KitchenAid if you do any kind of prep cooking, such as canning, salads, baby foods, venison processing, or sausages. It's very good quality plastic and metal, though the cone blade finish seems a bit crude to me. I can recommend it, with the reservations I mentioned.
