AMAZON HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THE AD OR MAKE IT RIGHT TO ME AS A CUSTOMER, THEY DON'T EVEN ANSWER MY COMPLAINTS THAT THEY HAVE MISREPRESENTED THIS ITEM (WHICH LETS ME KNOW THEY KNOW VERY WELL WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND IT WAS NO MISTAKE!). Agri-fab sent a pamphlet with the spreader and in that pamphlet I discovered that the item pictured in the ad is the pro series with cover and diverter shield. Amazon didn't even offer that series or I would have bought it. I was looking for the top of the line spreader and that is what I saw in the picture and thought I bought, but what they chose to picture is NOT what they are shipping you. All I asked for is the few pieces to make the one I received the same as the one they pictured in the sales ad I bought from and so far they have been VERY uncooperative and nonexistent with a resolution for their liability and negligence. As for the product, it works well but the galvanizing is only lightly flash coated so when I spread fertilizer during my lawn care rounds and got back in late, the metal parts were already rusting by the next morning before I could rinse it off. DON'T WAIT to rinse after every usage cause it wount wait to rust. You would think, being what it is, that they would plate it a little better for rust protection.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this thinking it was of better quality than the smaller blue Earthway salter. Sadly it isn't. It did arrive quickly ready to go, but after using it I'm not thrilled. It will now serve as my back up, it doesn't seem to want to move all that well when its full, and it feels kinda cheap. I'm sure it will be just fine for residential or private use. But if You own a business and need to use it for more than one or two accounts, I suggest to purchase a Salt Dogg, or anything with larger wider wheels, and one made of heaver metal.

This thing just fell apart on me last night, wheels and gearbox fell apart. Don't count on it to last if you have to do a lot of work with it. If its just your house it will probably last for a while.

(More customer reviews)Last Year I purchased this model. I've found that when I put perfectly granular name brand rock salt in the hopper it does not flow freely. The salt is stored inside a building, on a pallet to keep it dry. Because of the moisture in the spreader due to weather conditions, the salt needs agitating. After talking to the company who sold it they called the factory rep and he said the spreader would not accept an agitator because the motor is not heavy enough. The factory rep suggested an adapter to accept an agitator at the cost of $350! This salt spreader is causing frustration whenever it is used.

(More customer reviews)Does the job well - Sand MUST be completely dry or it wont work and I mean COMPLETELY DRY, HCL flakes and pellets no problem - assembly was easy and it seems rugged enough, the cover wont last long and I bought the Stainless for longevity - but there is so little metal to this I think I would by the Carbon Steel model and save 220 dollars. But I do recommend this - it works better than an ATV or Tailgate spreader - easier to clean, load etc. I am doing 1000 feet of driveway and am done in a snap.

You drive about 30 feet and have to get out and push the spinner to get it unjammed and you always have to keep shaking the bin to get the salt to slide down. I even store my salt in the warm indoors and it's clump-free #1 grade rock salt. The motor seems way too weak to be effective.

(More customer reviews)We purchased three Earthway 2030PI-plus. for use to salt sidewalks
We assembled them and we put grass seed in one. Started across the lot spreading seed and the spinner quit working. We emptied it and found that the drive axle had a fold in it to make a crude gear. The gear part of the vertical shaft that turns the spinner slide to one side dislodging it from the axle drive shaft.
We slid it back over and put seed in it and off we went. We stopped and turned a round and opened the slide to let seed out and nothing came out. Brand new out of the box and only grass seed not chemicals or salt. The cable pulled out of the slide at the spinner. So we put it back on the truck and used a very old Scotts spreader ($20.00)to finish.
We have not yet spread salt with them....
These changes we have made.
We drilled the axle and placed cotter keys in both sides to prevent the spinner unit from sliding off the gear

(More customer reviews)I have been through about one spreader a year from local big box stores. Either the plastic tires dont grip, or if you are lucky enough to find a local spreader with pneumatic tires it will rust apart in one season. Finally decided to buy a better spreader, and found this model.
It arrived in 1 box with some holes in it but everything was inside and in perfect condition. It assembled in about 30 minutes. Took it outside and it would barely move, and then lock up with wheels refusing to turn. Took about an hour to determine that a washer was in the wrong location from the factory, enabling a disc on the axle that mates with a sprocket on the spinner to wobble and bind. I put the washer in the right place, everything is snug and now works fine. Also had to tighten the bolts for the spreader adjustment flaps which were real loose from the factory.
The tires are real heavy duty. The bolts and such are all stainless steel. The axle disc is molded aluminum I think. The stirrer is a stainless steel cotter pin. The bin is plastic and has a metal screen (painted) to prevent debris from entering spinner mechanism. A rain cover is included.
Cons: Nearly gave it 4 stars for the poor assembly from factory but it is so great an improvement from anything I have had before with no clear design flaws that will keep it at 5 stars. It does squeek a little with use (from that same axle disc/sprocket) but maybe this will go away as have only used it once now. It does not close as tightly as I would like, and when adjusted to close more then does not open all the way, but still plenty enough.

(More customer reviews)I read alot of bad reviews on the 2030 but the 2040i plus seems to be much better! i have used it 5 times and my driveway is 22x 100 plus other stuff. One very important thing to do is read the sticker on the inside of the hopper that say's remove the little mixing bar from the shaft in the hopper for rock salt!!!!!that way it don't put to much stress on the spinning system. i hope this helps!
