Igloo MaxCold Cool Fusion 58 Can Cooler - Ice Blue/ Black Review

(More customer reviews)Coolers are funny. Either you need a really large one or a smaller one; Nothing in between. Too small and after adding ice, there is not much space left for food & drinks. That is what makes the Igloo Coolfus 40 so good. It is the perfect size and shape to load up with plenty of ice and still have loads of space for brewsky's and sandwiches. This Igloo also has the superior 24 hour urethane super insulation maxcold with a soft enclosure that has storage pockets. It even has an elastic strap for securing beach blankets to the top for efficient loaded travel on its wheels. The extendable handle is rugged and works smoothly. There are folding handles on each side.
Why do I call this the perfect size? Because with all its capacity (40 quarts in a cube format), it comfortably sits on the passenger seat in my compact car seat. A rectangular one would not fit. The Coolfus 40 even fits through the open window without having to open the door. The cube shape yields the most internal volume for a given outer dimension. I did not purchase this unit at Amazon but at Target for $69. It was the most expensive cooler they had but the benefits were too great to let the steep price prevent my purchase. It really is a handsome winner. I saw it in all black and all red, but not the blue.

(More customer reviews)We recently spent three days visiting San Francisco and stayed in a hotel which furnished a fridge and microwave. We carried our food with us and it stayed cold and fresh during the hours we spent traveling on public transit getting to our hotel. The only problem we had was with the two carrying handles. It would be so much nicer if the handles could convert into one handle so that the cooler could be carried in one hand while the other hand carried a second travel bag or suitcase. Getting on and off buses and climbing up stairs would have been so much easier with a single handle.

It does have a big flaw in that there is NO drain valve at the bottom of the chest. What was someone thinking when they removed it from the design, "Let's save a few bucks in making this and sell it?"
Ever try to pour off a days worth of melt in a fully loaded ice chest? Avoid

Negatives. There is not enough clearance between the wheels and the ground. Batteries are difficult to get to. If pulling the cooler and you go over a large stone will will stop the cooler and cause you to tip the cooler. The other negative is the knobs. The knobs and chrome details fall off easily. Recently the volumne knob broke off at the base and I called Igloo to see if there was a warranty or replacement for it. Unfortunatly they make no replacement parts for this unit. Buyer beware.

(More customer reviews)We bought this cooler 4 or 5 years ago because we travel often for weekend getaways. We really have enjoyed it so much, that when then handle broke last week, I ordered a replacement part from [...]. They have a similar product, however it is very wide in comparison. The tallness and deep lid feature allows for filling it up to the brim and then some. It does keep ice much longer than most by far. The claim to 5 days is probably a full chest of nothing but Ice, and not in direct sunlight. It really doesn't matter anyway. It's a great product and very convenient. The handle slides up quite a ways for ease in pulling it, without having to been down. In terms of the price, well it is expensive, but if you can get it on sale, do so. I recommend the 70 QT over the 60 because of the deeper lid, allowing for overfill. Don't you hate it when you fill a cooler, add Ice and you can't close the Lid? Well not likely with this one, sure you could do it, but the deep lid lets you get away with it more often than not. Is it heavy when you fill it? Of course! It's a 70 QT cooler, not 30. Need an easy tranport cooler? Buy this one. I did and 5 years 25,000+ miles later, I bought the replacement handle. I hope this review was helpful. I understnad not everyone has the same needs, however, It is a great product. The Best coller I have ever owned.
