(More customer reviews)Maybe I did not read the directions and was too eager to start using them but I washed and rinsed the containers before using them for the first time and water seeped between the container and plastic liner. I did not submerge them and was trying hard not to let any water near the seams but it wicked in anyway and took forever to dry out. I'm concerned that over time flour powder will get between and when I wash them again something nasty might grow. I'll probably use a damp cloth to clean them to avoid this.

Dump a pound of ground coffee in and top it off with water(I use spring water).Wait 24 hours and pull the plug, draining the concentrate into the decanter. Mix with hot water to taste(1:2 or 1:3)and you have the sweetest coffee you've ever had (without sugar).It seems the hot brewing puts bitter compounds in the coffee. Keep the concentrate in the fridge. Love it.

(More customer reviews)I have just purchased a Keurig Model B66 "Ultimate" and tried it out within the hour. My first opinions on this model are:
On a negative note... I found that the sound is noticeable when the unit is pumping the water into its heater. The individual K-Cup coffee containers while convenient, are costly per cup.
On the positive side... I drink black coffee and I feel that this unit does heat the water to a sufficient temperature and brews a drinkable cup of coffee very quickly. Another plus... Keurig also offers a solution for the "costly per cup servings" in that it sells a reusable coffee filter as an accessory. (This filter will permit you to use your own coffee which relates to a much lower cost per cup.)
My biggest regret about purchasing this particular model is that I didn't notice that the largest cup this unit brews is only ten (well 9.25) ounces... and not the twelve ounce mug size that I consider to be "my" standard size cup. In all fairness I can't find fault with Keurig for that because it clearly states the cup brewing size right on the back of the box.

Keurig Single Serving Coffe and Tea Maker Bundle - B70 Review

I do however have a beef with this model. Not only is it more expensive than your BJ's or Costco it also lacks certain features you get when you purchase the B70 model. I just bought mine at BJ's and I am returning it to purchase a B70 model.
The differences are:
B70 ( Platinum )
Cup sizes up to 12oz
Adjustable Temp
Lacks the 72 K-Cups instead you get 12.
B77 ( Select )
Stops at 10oz
No Adjustable Temp.
Bonus 72 K-Cups instead of the 12.
If you don't care much for the differences then the extra K-cups might make it worth the buy. I would still suggest you get it from BJ's or Costco since this price is $30 more here than they have it for.
I wanted the 12oz so I decided to forgo the extra k-cups and I am going for the B70 (Platinum).

Starbucks Brand New 2010 Iced Via Ready Brew Tumbler Review

(More customer reviews)Love the Via ice coffee, but this tumbler isn't the best design. When I open it, about 1/3 of the time it'll spurt out coffee, so I'll have to clean it up. I've tried to be real careful and tried various ways of opening it so I can sip the coffee, for some reason every once in a while coffee will come up the straw and leak out.
On a good note, it keeps the coffee cool, has a measuring line and looks cool. Would be nice, to have a hole of some sort to allow me to attach to my bag via clip. Anyway, I'm still using it cause it's the best I have for now. If I can figure out why it spurts out periodically, I wouldn't have to clean my car and pants so often.

(More customer reviews)If you already love the smooth taste of cold brewed coffee, you will never go back to brewing coffee after using this machine. For too long, I made cold brewed coffee by putting grounds and water in a big jar and then straining it through coffee filters. I ended up with as much coffee on the kitchen counter as I did in my cup. The hourglass cold brew system is a delight. It's made from BPA free plastic and is simple and clean to use. All you do is measure the grounds and water into one of the brew chambers and then let it sit on your counter for 12 hours. When done, you simply turn it over and the grounds stay in the brew chamber and the coffee runs into the second brew chamber. Done! No mess! The directions say you can re-use the grounds if you put more water in right away. I've done this every time and the second batch tastes just as good as the first. All in all, I think by using the grounds twice, the system becomes quite economical. I read the reviews of the other systems and decided to spring for the Hourglass because even though it is more expensive, it seems to have addressed the issues that other reviewers complained about (no lid on the fridge container, plastic, etc.) This machine is worth every penny. Lello 1375 Ariete Cafe Prestige Coffee Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I will give this five stars. Not the same five stars I would give something along the lines of a Gaggia Carezza mind you. This five stars should be taken as a rating relative to its price. If this were the same cost of the Gaggia I would probably have to give it a 3.5
I should note I prefer americanos, cappuccinos, lattes, etc over straight espresso. I bought this for a second house. If I were to be drinking a lot of straight espresso I would have bought the Gaggia.
One important detail which is not in the description is this unit will use ESE pods. The portafilter has inserts for single and double shot amounts, as do most machines. The single shot has a small ledge around it which is designed so it may be used for both single shots and ESE pods, with a pod fitting perfectly into the area created by the little ledge. This is a big advantage for those days when you are in a rush.
Construction. This thing is solid. When I ordered it I thought it would not really be steel, just chromed plastic. Well it is stainless steel. And the finish is beautiful. This has to be the most impressive looking espresso machine this side of $300. One plus of being so heavy is you don't have to hold it down when tightening the portafilter. Something I never liked about the lighter units.
Despite the description noting a rather weak looking 950-watt heater, I was pleasantly surprised by the speed at which it warms up. This had worried me at first, but now that I have it I have discovered no reason to be disappointed. While using the steam feature to froth it has enough power to be ready to pull a shot immediately with no need to wait. And after pulling a double shot it seems like it is ready in seconds for the next shot, well before I have time to remove the portafilter and get it cleaned and reloaded.
Another impressive feature here is the warming plate on the top of the unit. Once again, as with the 950-watt rating, I was expecting a rather weak showing on the warming front. Wow, another shocker. It works! I turn the unit on in the morning and prepare my first drink. Then I leave it on. Make sure at this point you clean the portafilter and place it on the unit empty. By the time you roll around to getting your second cup, the cups on top are nicely heated and the portafilter is warmed up as well.
The drip cup and water reservoirs are quite generous. The drip cup underneath the bottom plate even has an ingenious little pop up float near the back which raises with the water level. Instead of constantly pulling up the plate, you can tell if it is getting full by simply looking to see if the float is starting to pop up. What a nifty little feature!
There is one drawback. The portafilter is what Ariete calls their "Thermocream" design. The problem with this design is it is created to produce a "crema like" crema on the top of every cup. This somewhat hides whether or not you are doing your job right and the crema is a product of a good grind, good tamp, and good pull. I prefer the crema production to be a function of how well I doing my job, not a function of some little device that makes stuff that looks like crema even if it is not.
I would like to add that the Group Head (the thing the portafilter attaches to when you put it on) is not solid metal. Parts of it are plastic. But given the price I am not willing to deduct a star for this (or the Thermocream feature) as I would if I were comparing to the $200 machines.

Bodum Canteen Double-Wall Cooler/Beer Glasses, Set of 2 Review

(More customer reviews)In my never-ending need to own fancy things, I foolishly bought these glasses when they were first released, for even more than they cost now (although they are still expensive). Folks, please stick with plastic insulated glasses! I know that plastic is tacky, but some things are just more trouble than they are worth. You WILL BREAK these glasses, no matter how hard you try not to, so maybe its a good deal that Amazon is presently offering a deal on them.
In short: these glasses are easier to break than my Riedel Bordeaux glasses (in other words, FRAGILE); the glasses allow water to seep into the small hole on the bottom during hand washing, which is ugly (the tiny hole on the bottom of the glass prevents the glass from cracking due to rapid temperature changes); and dropping ice into the glasses or using too hot or cold a beverage will crack them. The only upside is they look nice for awhile (until water seeps in, or a hair line crack appears).
My first set was crushed in shipment. Amazon had not wrapped it in bubble wrap or anything else, and the Bodum box is severely lacking in built-in protection. Amazon DID ship new ones right away.
Save yourself the trouble of worrying about and dealing with these glasses! Pretty enough for awhile, you will find yourself so worried about ruining these expensive glasses that you will sit them on your shelves and simply stare at them. I really am sorry to say this... I don't give many negative reviews, and I generally like Bodum products.

(More customer reviews)I just got this coffee maker today, after months of reading, looking around, and pondering whether ot not it was going to be worth the money. I've always loved the look of it, especially the cool blue glowing display, but would it work as great as it looks? Well, as I sit here enjoying my first cup of perfect hazlenut coffee, I can say that so far, it's wonderful!
Getting it all set up was very easy, but a bit time consuming, since you have to let it cycle through about 3 or 4 times total to clean and rinse, but well worth it! Once cleaned, I decided to give it a try and brewed a 4 cup pot of coffee. When it was done, I dispensed it into my mug with no messy dripping and am enjoying the first half of it now. I will let the other half sit to see if it will taste just as good at the end of the 4 hrs. The coffee I'm drinking now is great. No bitterness, not too strong or too bland, and the perfect temperature.
Overall, I think this is a great machine and would highly recommend it!
*UPDATE*
So, I've been using this coffee maker for a few weeks now and everything is still great! But, I wanted to throw a couple of things out there for anyone comtemplating their purchase. My only real complaint is that there's no audible signal to let you know that the coffee's done or that the 4 hour warming period is over. I know it's not a necesity, but my Mr. Coffee had this feature and I really liked it. Guess I'm just spoiled! Also, here's a tip. The instructions say that using a paper filter along with the gold filter is optional. However, I've found that if you don't use a paper filter, any very fine or powdery grounds will get through and end up in your mug. This happened the first couple of times I used it, but a paper filter easily solved the problem. If you're thinking about buying this unit, just do it! I love mine!

Hamilton Beach 48464 Brewstation Summit 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Review

(More customer reviews)Purchased to replace our Brewstation Deluxe, which we absolutely loved! The only reason we did not purchase another one exactly like our old one is because of the leaking problem. About 1x/year we would need to replace the 'carafe' portion of the coffeemaker. The Summit was the 3rd replacement model we tried. It is the only other model that has all of the features that the Deluxe had (programmable auto shut-off & timer, brewing cycle selection). I agree with the previous post that it is a bit more awkward to fill. But, the biggest problem I have with it is the coffee basket. It has about 50 holes in the bottom for the water/coffee to flow out of the basket. The result is a very weak-tasting coffee because it flows through so quickly. I can't understand why this model is made like this when other models have only one hole! There is no way to even use enough coffee to get a strong flavor, even when putting it on 'Bold' setting, which slows down the brewing cycle. I figured out how to solve this problem by purchasing a permanent filter basket to use inside the other basket, plus using a paper filter. This adds to the awkwardness of the whole process, but we are so hooked on this style of machine that are willing to put up with it. It is also messier than the Deluxe because of all of the condensation inside. When you lift the lid water runs down (but mostly back into the carafe), and when you take out the basket there is condensation all over it and it drips trying to get it to the trash or sink. I also just noticed one of the buttons to set the time is sticking. Well, maybe I should go back to the Deluxe...

Surprise, the replacement pair are significantly heavier and
sturdier, and seem to have thicker glass on the outside

on the bottom, vs the etching on my earlier edition.

My friend had one with the green straw and around Christmas I almost purchased the one with the red and white straw but I didn't because I figured I'd be able to buy it after Christmas for less. I was wrong. The cup is now only available for a ridiculous amount of money. so instead I bought this:
Amazon took away the link, just google "Copco® Cold Beverage To Go Cup - Brown" It should come up for sale from bedbathandbeyond dot com. I use it every day. I'm drinking out of it right now in class.
This cup was only 7.99 they had it at the Bed Bath & Beyond by me. It's not insulated like the Starbucks one but I think it is just as good. The Starbucks one wasn't overpriced in stores but now it isn't available in stores and is ridiculously priced online. Also some people don't like Corporate names on goods they reuse, it's like you paid the company to advertise for them. My friend uses her Starbucks one almost every day. I know it's a good cup but just get the one from BedBathandbeyond, it's lighter, holds more (24 ounces total which is actually how much the disposable cups hold 24, to accommodate for the ice [I worked at Starbucks])
I highly recommend the Copco® Cold Beverage To Go Cup - Brown. The price is great, it works great, and it's adorable.

The Starbucks Coffee offered its seasonal reusable clear double-wall insulated tumber again. This 16 oz. "Grande" insulated tumbler comes with a reusable green straw as well. You can save money on refills in most Starbucks locations. Ask your local Starbucks what their policy is. This is a great way to begin your "green" way of life. Just think of all the plastic cups you will not be throwing away anymore!

(More customer reviews)My husband and I decided to buy this coffee maker for two reasons. One, we wanted to break our Starbucks habit/addiction and two, because we both have really different tastes in coffee. A traditional coffee maker just wasn't cutting it for us because we couldn't both drink out of the same pot of coffee and ended up wasting a lot of coffee. So this allows us to each brew our favorite coffee without a lot of waste. The coffee maker is very quick to warm up and it's not any louder than our old coffee pot. You can set the brew strength to suit your taste which is really helpful and it even has an iced coffee setting. The large water reservoir is a really nice feature because we don't have to constantly refill the pot, unless of course we are drinking a lot of coffee or tea!
Now, I know the coffee maker is relatively expensive initially so the return on investment will take a little bit of time. With all the myriad of types and flavors of coffee and tea available, we have truly cut down on our Starbucks addiction and have both tailored our K-Cup purchases to suit our individual tastes. My husband makes two to three of his own Vanilla Latte style iced coffees everyday. I've branched out into trying all kinds of different teas in addition to making my own coffee. It does help that several cream companies have come out with some truly delicious flavored creamers to compliment the wide variety of coffee flavors available.
While we can get a few flavors of the K-cups at our local grocery store, Amazon by far has the best selection and best prices. This particular model of coffee maker came with an assortment of coffees so we could try a variety. When you are first starting out with this coffee maker, I would definitely recommend finding an assortment pack so you can decide what your favorites are without having a whole bunch of extra K-Cups left over of things you don't like. Another nice feature that is available for purchase separately is a filter assembly for use with your own coffee. This comes in handy if you have a special coffee flavor that isn't prepackaged by any of the K-Cup makers. Just be sure to use care when you grind your own beans and ensure you read the instructions so you don't use too fine or too course of a grind.
We are extremely please with the quality of this coffee maker and the wide variety of quality coffees and teas available for it. If you have the cash and you are a dedictated coffee drinker, you can't go wrong with this purchase!

I was amazed at its ability to keep liquids hot; I would put my tea or coffee in at 7am, and pour a piping hot beverage at 5pm. It survived many falls, including being dropped at high bicycle velocities. I loved this bottle so much, that after losing it, I bought an identical replacement. It is a great size for me (16oz,) but fyi, amazon sells a larger one (0.79 quart) for about the same price. I bought that one for my dad to keep him from coveting mine.

(More customer reviews)I've owned a Keurig Platinum B70 since January 2007 and have liked it a lot since getting it. K-cups are very convenient and aren't overly expensive when purchased from Amazon. My primary complaint about it is the pump noise and vibration. Keurig updated the design and greatly reduced the noise and vibration in their latest model of the Platinum and in this Breville model, and I wanted to find out just how much of an improvement there was. In my opinion, the improvement is huge. It is much, much quieter. I also liked the addition of the smaller cup size of four ounces, as well as the option to use a built-in water filter. Functionally, the Keurig Platinum and Breville BKC700XL are identical. The Breville adds a couple of nice convenience features (such as a supplied My K-Cup with a storage bin), and the cosmetics are clearly different. After using both, the cosmetics are a wash for me (some pluses for one model, and some pluses for the other), so it comes down to the difference in price. Right now, the Breville costs over $90 more than the Platinum. I don't think it's worth it, but it certainly might be for anyone that prefers the looks of the Breville. Either way, the coffee is good and easy to make!
