(More customer reviews)This is nothing but the typicl freezer packs in a plastic keeper. You must poor wine and other beverages into the carafe. I thought a wine bottle would likely fit directly into the Cooler. I also had the impression it was something new. You would do just as well with the plastic rapid ice sleeves for much less or a more attractive ice bucket.
It does cool beverages with time determined by the temp of beverage you pour into the carafe. I foolishly bought two... One as a gift.

(More customer reviews)This product works well to chill a bottle or keep one cold, but I've found that it's really an either/or solution. You can either chill a bottle of warm room temperature wine OR you can keep a pre-chilled bottle cool for quite some time, but not both. Based on my experience, if you use this to chill a bottle, the cooler becomes too warm to keep that bottle chilled for an extended time.
This chills to the recommended serving temperatures of most wines, but for those needing the biggest chill (such as dessert wines or Riesling), this doesn't get quite cold enough. I've observed that, once frozen, this can take a bottle of wine from warm room temperature (about 77) down to the low-50s, which is perfect for most white wines. But again, if you're serving a wine that likes to be in the mid- to low-40s (or if you just prefer your wine extra cold), this won't quite cut it. If you're curious, all of my tests/experiences are based on freezing the chiller in a 0 degree F freezer. Your results will obviously vary depending on the starting temperature of your wine and the temperature of your freezer.
Overall, I'm quite happy with this product, mostly because it lets me get to my wine faster! Just be aware of this product's limitations and it should meet your needs.

your pleasure. Here are two ways to use this tool-*You put it around a cold bottle to keep it that way. For instance, if you're carrying
white wine to a BYOB or a picnic, the sleeve will keep it at serving temperature.
It seems to last for about an hour and a half if it's wrapped with something insulating.
*You put it over a room-temperature bottle of red wine to cool it down to a proper
serving temp of around 60-65F.At this low price, anyone who takes bottles of wine to friends or to restaurants should

(More customer reviews)While I've found the above mentioned 5 minutes to chill from room temperature down for drinking a bit optimistic (15 minutes is more accurate, if you also put the bottle with chiller in the freezer); there are few other viable ways of cooling a bottle down quickly that are this effortless. Slide the sleeve on (stick in freezer or not), wait, cork, and drink.
Besides this main feature, the chiller can serve two other purposes. First, after corking and pouring the first round of glasses, the chiller can serve in place of a more expensive metal bucket or crystal chiller, especially when it has a pleasing pattern or scene (most of these I have seen are a plain silver). Second, the chiller is great for bring bottles of white wine to friends' homes that you want to share immediately. Many people start with whites and if you are bringing a room-temperature white, it's annoying having to wait for it to chill in the freezer. Those 15-30 minutes may see your bottle passed over and forgotten. But with the Rapid Ice chiller, you can arrive with a bottle that's ready to drink immediately, even if traveling to your friends' took a while.
