Waring Pro PC100 Wine Chiller Review

(More customer reviews)The problem isn't with the unit taking a long time to chill a bottle of wine, the problem is that it doesn't chill a bottle of wine.
I put a bottle of room temperature Chablis in, and selected Chablis from the list of white wines. The unit said it would chill it to 46 degrees, and indicated that the starting temp was 77. That was my first concern, because the bottle was room temperature, and room temp was 70. The unit took more than 30 minutes to get the bottle to the desired temp (according to the units thermostats), but when I opened the bottle, the wine was probably a bit warmer than a pinot should be served at. I turned the unit off, placed the bottle back in (using the accompanying sleeve both time, btw), and this time the starting temp read 61 degrees. In other words, it disagreed with itself...
Soo...I chilled it again, for another 20 minutes, and upon reaching 46 (again) the bottle was no cooler than it was before.
I don't understand how these are selling. They are probably good for bringing room temp reds down to the appropriate serving level, but this simply does not chill white, rose, or sparkling wines to the desired temperature. So it's great, I suppose, for someone who doesn't have a wine refrigerator, or a cellar, but who wants to drink red wines at the appropriate temperature. It's terrible for anything other than that.
This is as disappointed as I've ever been with a product before.

(More customer reviews)The chiller works just fine with regular 750ml bottles of wine. The bottom easily unscrews, giving you access to the two "half-moon" frozen inserts. The bottle sits inside the chiller and lands on a spring-supported platform that works the dome that closes in at the neck of the bottle. It keeps the wine at a nice temperature even outside on hot humid days.
The video and images I had seen before buying the chiller made me think that it would hold a 1.5L wine bottle. Unfortunately it does not. You can squeeze a 1.5L bottle in the chiller, but the dome will not close and the bottle is in so tight that you would need to pour wine with the chiller still firmly attached.
I recommend it for standard bottles, but for 1.5L wine bottles I will have to keep looking.

(More customer reviews)This is nothing but the typicl freezer packs in a plastic keeper. You must poor wine and other beverages into the carafe. I thought a wine bottle would likely fit directly into the Cooler. I also had the impression it was something new. You would do just as well with the plastic rapid ice sleeves for much less or a more attractive ice bucket.
It does cool beverages with time determined by the temp of beverage you pour into the carafe. I foolishly bought two... One as a gift.

It is great and always impresses everyone who sees it. I made one filed with fall leaves to use as a wine bottle chiller which looked beautiful. My hint if you're going to use it to put a candle in the middle is not to fill it with too much stuff because if you do the light from the candle won't show through. A great gift idea and it sure looks pretty and festive on your dinner table. I'm doing one with cranberries for a holiday party next week. Have fun with this product - you won't be disappointed!
