I followed the "Quick Start Guide" and I ran into a couple issues...
First off, I had to get my altitude from my GPS unit, but I am sure there is some info off the internet that should get you close.
Secondly the dang Time Zone issue. I tried and tried and tried, and finally after several attempts I got it. The key to changing your time zone is make sure the Day is displayed next the time SA for example. Then holding the ^ UP button allows you to change your time zone. Intially I had the seconds next to the time and it would not allow me to change the time zone.
Hope this helps someone out there and saves them the 30 minutes of my life I wont get back ;)

Atomic Clock feature works fine and the range and accuracy on the remote sensor seems fair enough -- there is often about a 1-2 degree difference between the sensor and main unit if set right next to each other, but this is minor for the uses we get out of it (a quick look at outside temps during the winter).
The only issue we ran into that was "problematic" was the Ice Alarm feature. This feature sets off the devices alarm anytime the temperature drops between 32 and 27 degrees or so to alert you to possible icy conditions. The problem is that in cold climates the temperature hovers in that range all winter long...so the alarm goes off continually every 40 seconds or so.
We just happened upon a solution that has worked perfectly. The ice alarm only works on Channel 1. So, if you set the outside sensor to Channel 2 or 3 the ice alarm is disabled and is no longer triggered. Obviously, they should have an ability to shut it off, but this is it...and even this isn't listed in the instructions.

For thorough weather data, the thermometer accommodates up to three remote sensors, and records minimum and maximum temperatures. Low battery indicators for the base unit and the sensor appear on the display screen. The thermometer requires the separate purchase of two AAA batteries and one AA battery. (More customer reviews)This unit is easy to read and works great--compared to what, I dunno. We've never owned anything like this. But it's fun to have, much more so than a simple thermometer.Two caveats however. You need a very small flat-head screwdriver in order to put the AAA batteries into the sensor. Not so small as the one in an eyeglass repair kit though. I had a small screwdriver with a shirt-pocket clip, that small, and still had to file the sides down in order to reach the deeply recessed screws. I'll have to do this anytime the batteries need changing. Not the best design perhaps.Second, the instructions tell you to put the (outdoor) sensor (1) in a sight line with the (indoor) monitor-- (2) open to the sky-- (3) out of the sun-- (4) out of the rain-- (5) away from metal-- It's not easy to do all of this! Ours is nestled in a plastic container cut up into the shape of a bus kiosk and tied to a post. I'm not sure if it's all 100% necessary.The atomic clock took about a day to find its signal. The instructions warn about this odd (to me) likelihood.It's a little discouraging to have to deal with all of this out of the box but as I say the device is great.
