(More customer reviews)These mats are the only way to go. I tried using the buried heat lines in concrete when I poured my stoops but they only lasted a couple of years. So, I bought two mats, one standard size 6'x4', the other I had Heat Trak make custom for me 9'x4'. Both are 220/240 to work with my old sidewalk system. I am using the snow and temp sensor to turn the mats on and off during the snow season. I called heat Trak direct and talked with Rich at Ext230. He was great in helping me order the custom mat. These are not cheap mats!!! But the old saying "you get what you pay for" When winter here in Iowa is done, I will just roll these babies up and store them in the garage. They really do make life a little easier!!

The HeatTrak 36-inch by 5-inch heated walkway is designed to endure harsh wear in winter seasons as it prevents snow and ice accumulation on your stairs. The heated walkway is built with non-slip, UV protected rubber making it ideal for outdoor use. It is made of an electrically operated heating element sandwiched between two protective surfaces of non-slip rubber, making it as durable as automobile tires and wear resistant. When turned on, the walkway will heat up to melt snow at a rate of 2-inches per hour. The walkway can be secured to the ground using its built-in grommet holes (in every corner and approximately every three feet of length) and is designed to be left outside for the entire winter season.
The heated walkway is sold as a single unit but will connect to additional walkways to create an entire heated system for your steps. Every group of heated walkways requires a GFCI controller (sold separately) to connect the system to a 240-volt electrical outlet. It plugs into any standard outlet using a GFCI protected, 6-foot power cord. Each walkway is designed with watertight 18-inch connector cables enabling it to connect to additional walkways. You can connect up to 10 walkways on a single outlet. Walkways maintain an average temperature of 40-degrees above the ambient temperature. Turn the walkway on before the snow begins to fall. This heated walkway comes with a 2-year limited warranty.
