Sunbeam 2349 Heritage Series Stand Mixer Review

I love my Heritage stand mixer! I used a sunbeam stand mixer for aprx. 25 years and it finally died on me. It was great except for the real heavy duty mixing (it had fewer watts than the Heritage model does). I replaced it with a KitchenAid stand mixer. I put up with it for 5 years and mostly hated it. It beat things too light... mashed potatoes, cookie dough... which changed the texture and taste of foods. Worst was how frustrating KitchenAid's are to use. The mixing bowl is deep and small in diameter. That means every time you need to mix a bit with your spatula, you have to turn off the mixer, unlock the head, lift up the head, then mix your ingredients, then put the head back down, then relock the head, then turn the mixer back on... every time you want to stir a bit. There just isn't room for reaching into the bowl it's so small in diameter. When you add in dry ingredients to your dough you can't get into the bowl enough with anything other than a stirring spoon. I just found that it wasn't worth the frustration.
Compare that to the Sunbeam Heritage which I bought 5 months ago... powerful motor (in fact, more watts than the KitchenAid most people buy and more watts than my original Sunbeam)... large diameter bowl so you can add ingredients easily and mix when you want to.
Only thing I would like on my Sunbeam Heritage that I don't have is a glass bowl. My original one had glass bowls and they were great for mashing potatoes in and then heating them up a bit in the microwave, without having to transfer them. (KitchenAid's bowls aren't glass either.)

Combining 12 variable speeds and a powerful torque-control motor, this 450-watt stand mixer provides superior mixing control and maintains speed regardless of the mixing load. The unit ensures thorough, even mixing by offering dual-motor three-way beating action where one motor drives the beaters, each turning in opposite directions, and a second motor drives the bowl. The bowl speed increases and decreases automatically as the beater speed is increased and decreased. Simply slide the bowl selector lever on the front of the unit to the left when using the small bowl and to the right when using the large bowl. For added convenience, the head and beaters are off-center to the bowl to make it easier to add ingredients during mixing, and the mixer's tilt-back head simplifies removal of the mixing bowl and attachments. The eject button, located on the top of the handle, releases the attachments for easy cleaning by hand or in the dishwasher. Attachments include stainless-steel wire whisks for whisking cream, egg whites, light batters, and cake mixes; stainless-steel "v-groove" beaters for creaming butter and sugar, plus mixing heavy cake mixes; and stainless-steel dough hooks for kneading dough and other heavy mixtures. A user guide with recipes is also included. Housed in heavy-duty die-cast metal with non-slip rubber feet for stability, the stand mixer measures 16-7/8 by 8-3/4 by 18 inches and carries a two-year limited warranty.

LG : LSC27910TT Refrigerator Review

Their reputation is holding...actually getting worse in my opinion...
Their customer service was always poor, but I just didn't realize how poor....and I'm not even going to elaborate on the dropped calls, the false promises of return calls, and the unwillingness to resolve the situation, I'll just report on the poor quality of the product...
Bought the LG LSC27910TT in July of 2008. Within 2 mo. the refrigerator was holding 62F on the coldest setting and the freezer was at -20F at the warmest setting. Basically, there was a damper that wasn't sending cold air to the fridge and it was sending the humid air into the freezer, so frost was collecting very quickly in the freezer. It took 4wks to get a new LSC27910TT from LG. They sent me a new one due to the part being backordered....which means what??? Yes....this is a common issues with this model.....very common. So...it will take a minimum of 4wks for you to get a replacement fridge if you have this issue.
Now....onto the new one. They sent a new one, not refurbed, but new. And yes....this one is now broken. The ice cube flap on the door (which works via a motor) will not open when ice falls to the door....so it's jammed every time. Sent for replacement parts....turned out not repairable. Meanwhile, talking to LG is like talking to my 8wk old....I actually get more of a response from him. I wanted a new model. No dice!!! They wanted to charge me 1/2 the difference. A good try, but I'm not throwing any more of my money LG's way.
I still don't have the 3rd fridge, but I sure hope it works!

Oster 6854 14 Speed Blender, Brushed Nickel Review

Put 3 or 4 ice cubes in and they crushed easily. Add more, no problem, add more, machine starts just spinning in place. Now if you add frozen berries, blades still spinning with no action. Add liquid, good results. Add one frozen berry at a time and you get a nice smoothy. If mixture gets too thick, will not blend but just spins blades. I put in a can of sweet potatos added some water, turned dial to "baby food", no blending, blades spinning. Added a LOT more water, and it worked beautifully. I said it's inconsistant because it works great if you keep stirring and poking the ingredients down toward the blades or add enough liquid or make sure you add the frozen things first but not too many of them or one at a time after you've added liquid. Seems like a lot of work but I have nothing else to compare it to. My only other blender is 18 year old oster and couldn't even handle one ice cube so this seems like an improvement. Still might take it back to BBB and try another brand. When it works, and you do everything just right, you get a wonderful results.
