My issues are that shipping was high compared to some other online vendors and it took past the expected delivery times to arrive. I had to contact Amazon to complain. Amazon then forwarded my complaint to the vendor (who apologized) and I received delivery in about 10 days after ordering.

(More customer reviews)Sorry folks, but I don't know if I got a lemon or what, but after following instructions on how to install the filter,etc, the end result was water tasting like plastic. The only way i can assume this happened is that the filter sat in the warehouse in the dog days of summer long before it came into the consumers hands. Too bad because it installed and was fine otherwise, but the taste cannot be ignored. Amazon had the best price for this but if I were you, I would probably buy locally if you can. Otherwise, it's a crapshoot in terms of knowing if you will get one that is free from plastic taste or not.

(More customer reviews)The flap that normally covers the ice dispenser chute on my Whirlpool refrigerator stopped working. It would not seal properly, which caused moisture to freeze up the mechanism that crushes and dispenses ice--which meant no ice could be dispensed at all. It was "reach into the bucket and get some ice" for a while until I found this kit. While any repair kit that uses some type of super-adhesive to mount additional hardware (not visible after installation, by the way, which is good) and requires you to take needle-nose pliers and break off the little plastic things that originally supported the flap can cause some apprehension in someone with little confidence in their repair skills (me), it worked perfectly. Some aspects of the replacement directions did have me scratching my head for a few minutes, but the end result was a complete success.

If the consumer uses one gallon of water per day in the form of water from the refrigerator dispenser and ice from the ice dispenser, the filter will last 750 days; i.e., just over TWO years. In general, there is no reason to replace the filter yearly, unless you have a really yuccky water source.
In a small household of two adults, the filter should last considerably longer than two years. Furthermore, with the addition of a filtered water dispenser at the sink (such as a GE undercounter unit), the refrigerator filter would be functional for a few years. The undercounter units have a quite large capacity and some use two filter cartridges.

(More customer reviews)The print for my refrigerator showed the part #WR30X0327 as the icemaker I needed. Apparently it's obsolete and this #WR30X10093 was supposed to be the direct replacement. The adapter cord made the complete cord assembly way too long so had to do some maneuvering to get all the cord placed in the back so it could be mounted. Then the basket would not slide back in as this model hangs to low.
Then I get on here and find I can't return it. Great system!!

(More customer reviews)It was so easy to install this replacement icemaker in my Kenmore Elite fridge. Took a total of about 10 minutes. All parts and directions were included so it was no problem to put in.
Just one thing to remember - if your old icemaker hasn't been working for a while, once you put in the new icemaker, you will most likely need to defrost the freezer so the water line can thaw. I forgot about that when I first installed this new icemaker so I was disappointed when it didn't work right away. Then I remembered that the water line to the freezer was probably frozen since our icemaker had been broken for about 6 months. Once I turned the fridge off and let it sit for about 4-5 hours, I plugged it back in and in maybe an hour or two I had ice cubes again! Awesome.
Oh yeah - one more thing - you'll want to throw away the first few batches of ice from the new icemaker because the water in the line will probably be stagnant (if the old icemaker was broken for a while).
I am very pleased with my purchase and happy I installed the part myself. I saved about $80 over purchasing the same part directly from Sears, and about $145 over having some repair person do it for me.

PUR PBSS Push-Button Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter Cartridge Review

(More customer reviews)It seems there are a LOT of misuderstandings in these reviews. If you own a Sears refridgerator it IS a Whirlpool, or Kitchen Aid, or whatever else with a "Kenmore" name plate on it. Sears doesn't make their appliances and they purchase appliance from varios companys and put their "Kenmore" brand on it. I have a Whirlpool fridge, Whirlpool dishwaher, and GE microwave. They all say Kenmore and the stainless stell matches perfectly. A Sears sales rep will tell you who makes the specific unit. This is true for Kenmore washers & dryers as well, all appliance. Secondly, Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Kenmore, etc. do not make the filters. Sears, Whirlpool, etc. sell the filter with their markings on it. PUR make the filter. This is not a cheaper replacement for the filter, it is the same filter. I have been using PUR filters bought on-line for 5 years now and it is the same filter that came in the refridgerator when I bought it. The only thing to keep in mind is that the "universal PUR Filter", that fits all push button, in the grill units, does not have the same filtration as the the specific PUR filter that comes with the fridge. For example the "Universal" filter is about $26 on Amazon and my fridge came with a PUR 4396710 which cost about $32 on Amazon. Both will work, but the $32 unit filters out about 11 types of impurities, the $26 unit is 4 types. I buy the 4396710 to protect my 2 year old and wife. What is $7 more when it's your family's health. They are about $50 each at Sears.
I hope this information helps clear up some misconceptions and helps people make an educated decision on what to buy.
