Hopkins 3512SW Condor 35" Swivel Snowbrush Review

Hopkins 3512SW Condor 35 Swivel Snowbrush

I use it mostly as pictured (brush head square to the handle). The head locks into place reliably. The scraper works well. The handle is long enough to clear the roof of a sedan from one side of the car (pushing or pulling), yet short enough to conveniently stow in the passenger footwell. Judging from the one I owned previously (which was misplaced), it will last many years. It is definitely worth the premium over brushes one sees in most stores.

It's a little annoying that the only position that the pivoting brush head locks in to is the center position. If you are trying to sweep snow with it in the side position it has a tendency to move. Other than that it is a great brush. Very handy to have it telescope out so far. Makes clearing my truck off a lot easier.

Superbly engineered and well-made, this is the best snow broom I've ever owned. I've had it for two New England winters, and it's held up well and performed flawlessly.
The broom head pivots and has several locking positions, which allows you to angle it like a snow plow and methodically work the snow off your windshield, with gravity's help.
This year I bought a Honda Pilot, a sizable SUV which can take a lot of snow on its roof. Now I truly appreciate the value of the extending handle. With its 60" reach, I can get the snow off the entire roof while standing in one spot beside the car. No walking around, no getting snow in my boots!
The only downside is that it's so good that my wife confiscated it from me. I had to buy another one. Actually, I bought a few, to give as presents to my family.

Hopkins 17311 Swivel and 54" Extension Snowbroom Review

Hopkins 17311 Swivel and 54 Extension Snowbroom
Average Reviews:

The broom part is great - nice and soft bristles, wide and thick area of bristles, and most importantly, did not scratch my vehicle. The brush head lies flat for storage (like shown in the picture) and then twists into position for use when clearing snow. This feature would be nice in theory, but the brush did not stay in position for me and kept twisting back toward the flat position. It was very irritating to have to keep reorienting the brush head during use (especially when it was snowing and I wanted to get the snow cleared quickly and be on my way). The ice scraper part seemed okay, but I have a separate small handheld ice scraper that I use and I do not require one on my snow brush. The telescoping handle and padded grip are nice features. I did give the product a chance and used it over the course of the entire winter last year, but the twisting brush design is so poor that it was no longer worth the aggravation. I have since donated this snowbrush - maybe it will work better for others.

Mallory 511-E Long Reach Telescopic SnoBroom Review

Mallory 511-E Long Reach Telescopic SnoBroom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this is the right size for ordinary car windshields. i've had larger snow brooms that were too wide and would not fit the curve of the windshields.
the squeegie and ice scraper blades are the right size. squeegie a little big for side mirrors but that's because i have a compact. it works ok for an average sized sedan's side mirrors.
the brush itself is also of reasonable size. the length is also more than sufficient for a car.
the extender lock is easy to use but it rotates the broom in relation to the scraper if you don't hold on to both ends. that causes a little bit of inconenience by forcing you to change the orientation of the broom in your hand when you want to use the other end, but only a little. i've owned an older model of this and it had a simple lock by twisting the 2 ends in relation to each other. now there's that little knob in the center which i don't know why it was added because it just adds another moving part and allows the 2 ends to be unaligned when locked.
have not tested this on anything larger than a wagon.

Very good reach with this product, due to it's length. Also the ice scraper worked well. Unfortunately, after the 4th use, the ice scraper head snapped off, with only the usual amount of force. I believe the cold weather weakened the plastic because it snapped under almost no effort.

I've been in Indiana this winter and it has been particularly brutal. Nearly every morning since early December this snowbrush has been necessary to remove the ice caked on the windows of the car. It has held up well. No cracks or breaks, while I see bits and pieces of other snowbrushes littering the parking area, so I can't complain.

I finally got a Snow Brum after living in the northeast my whole life. I can't believe I've wasted so much time with a regualr snow brush. And this is a required tool if you have an SUV and hate having 50 pounds of snow slide down your wind shield when ever you hit the brakes. You can clean off your entire car in about 1/10th of the time. And this is great for the deep snows too. In short, if you have snow - YOU NEED THIS.

The SNO BRUM offers consumers a way to quickly sweep snow off a vehicle and away from the user. Perfect for sport utility vehicles and minivans where reaching the across the width of the windshield with a typical snow brush is often challenging. With the SNO BRUM, drivers can easily push even heavy, wet snow off the roof, hood and trunk without scratching the paint or harming the finish of any vehicle. The durable molded polyethylene foam head has been lab-tested for non-abrasiveness, freeze resistance and center load stress and durability and has achieved the highest ratings in all tests. The oversized head (6' x 17") is the largest snow remover available. The high-impact plastic face plate is recessed into the foam to prevent contact with the vehicle. The powder coated steel telescoping handle has special cold resistant nylon threads and extends from 27" to 46".

Well, winter will be coming upon us, and rather than clean my car off with a magazine/modified cardboard box top, I thought a real snow/ice scraper would be handy. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just enough to get the job done decently. For under $4 and free S/H with a minimum Amazon order, I think this is a good deal.
The picture pretty much is it. The construction is pretty sturdy. The entire length is about 1'10" and brush is just under 7". The width of the ice scraper is about 4". The handle is solid thick plastic with a hole at the top for easy hanging, though mine is going in the back of the car.
I did manage to crack the ice scraper at the very tip when testing out the "flexibility" of the scaper, but I do not think this should inhibit its functioning.
People who are very short/have short arms are probably not going to be able to clean off the top of the car or the middle of an SUV windshield very easily with this though.

Oxo Good Grips 17014 Twister Snow Brush/Scraper Review

Oxo Good Grips 17014 Twister Snow Brush/Scraper
Average Reviews:

Used with one hand, this is a very, good snow brush. The handle is short enough to fit in your car, but long enough to reach across the hood. The handle is thick and padded making it easy to used with heavy snow and gloved hands. Being able to twist the brush 90 degrees and rake heavy snow is very useful.
We seldom get freezing rain, but often we get heavy frost stars. The stars are heavy enough not to melt with the defroster. Since the stars are not a sheet of ice, it is difficult to remove with a one handed ice scraper. Used two handed, the 17014 easily gets off frost stars. Used two handed it easily deals with refrozen snow and other light ice sheets that form while parked at the mall. Used two handed, the 17014 is one of the best ice scrapers I have ever used.

I have fybromyalgia and find it very painful to exert myself physically. The SnowMover is designed in such a practical way. that I barely have to lift a finger. The grip is designed so that it makes it easy to find an efficent yet less painful way of clearing snow off of my van. The telescoping handle makes it a breeze to reach those far, out of the way parts of my van's roof. It is easy to go backwards and forward with this amazing tool. That feature alone save me time, effort, and significantly reduces my pain. I would highly recomend the snowmover to anyone. Good luck, and keep these kind of great products and innovations coming.

I hadn't even used this ice scraper 10 times before the handle snapped off the head. The review by Wayne proves that this isn't just an occasional problem.
When I used it, the blade worked well on the side windows, but not on the windshield for removing frost. Since I don't have any experience with ice scrapers, I can't compare. The brush is really nice for removing snow and scraped off frost. But save your money and find another product, because this ice scraper is too expensive to have it break on you so easily.

I had purchased a Hopkins extendable snowbrush to help get the snow off the roof of my SUV. It worked so well that I decided to get one for my car as well. The pivoting brush head makes it easy to push or pull snow off the flat surfaces of the vehicle. I also got to use the more aggressive ice scraper to get 1/4" thick freezing rain off the windows. It worked very well. The extension feature is quite handy. It allows you extra reach on an SUV or truck, but yet collapses down to a manageable size for storage. I would recommend this product if you need the extra reach to clear off larger vehicles, or need the stout ice scraper for freezing rain.

Hopkins 2610XM Super Extender 52" Snowbroom Review

Hopkins 2610XM Super Extender 52 Snowbroom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of my most-hated snow/ice removal tools for vehicles that I've used.
PROS:
* Telescoping handle for hard-to-reach areas
* Handle grip prevents losing... well... your grip
* Horizontal brush design allows for pushing motion for more efficient removal of snow
* Horizontal brush can push larger amounts snow, easier than a vertical design
CONS:
* "T" shape can be unwieldy and top-heavy, harder to stow away
* Horizontal scraper is inefficient on any curved glass surfaces and seems to have no good use
* Small scraper is harder to use because of the blocky shape on the opposite end
* Small scraper is of poor design: breaks easier than most other shapes and tends to scrape inconsistently
As a lifelong Alaskan who has seen her share of winter snow removal tools, this is one of dozens I've used that have quickly found their way to the discard pile. Personally, if I need to remove large amounts of snow from my car I use a household broom. If I'm out and about or have a smaller amount of snow to remove from my car, I use the type of scraper that has the bristles laid out vertically along the handle which is easier to use in a sweeping motion, rather than a "pool cue" motion this scraper requires. The vertical-bristle type are also much easier to stow away.
Don't even get me started on the Hopkins scraper design; the plastic is inefficient at separating ice from glass unless your car is super heated on the inside. Most plastic scrapers scrape from the outer surface-down to the glass, basically "eroding" away the frost and ice on the glass. If the vehicle is heated on the inside, a thin film of water forms between the glass and the ice at which point plastic scrapers begin to "work" by shoving the ice around on the glass. A more efficient design found on brass-bladed scrapers, like the CJ Industries F101 Fantastic Ice Scraper with Brass Blade, actually gets the blade BETWEEN the ice and glass and scrapes the ice off without scratching the glass since brass is softer than glass.
In conclusion, I recommend a Fantastic Ice Scraper in conjunction with snow brush of your choice.
