(More customer reviews)This cooler works great! I bought it for my husband to use in our 2-car garage. We're in Sacramento where most of the summer is in the 90s, with plenty of 100+ degree days. He works on cars so he has to leave the large garage door open for ventilation. Cooling the garage with such a large open area is definitely above and beyond what this is designed/expected to do, but I thought it was worth a try.
We've been impressed at just how well it works. According to the temperature gun it's typically about 10-15 degrees cooler than the outside air (depending on humidity and how long the cooler's been running). It works even better with ice in the reservoir, which drops the temperature another 10 or so degrees. There have been days when the garage is actually cooler than the house, thanks to this cooler.
Normally we use the "swing" setting to cool the whole garage, and it works well. On extra hot days, it works great to turn off the "swing" and point the fan directly at you.
The only downside is that it's very noisy. The noise doesn't matter in the garage, but in the house it's pretty noticable. We tried sleeping one night using the cooler to save on A/C costs. It was nice and cool, but the noise drove me crazy. The fan noise was fine on low, but the water dripping kept me awake. If you're a sound sleeper and/or like the dripping water sound it might be fine.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone in a dry climate who's looking for a relatively inexpensive cooling solution, especially if noise is not a factor.

(More customer reviews)I did quite a bit of research on this item and a tip I read somewhere online suggested that you find out who made the compressor before buying. My understanding is that there are at least three different compressors on this model. I purchased mine at Home Depot and took it out of the box before buying. You can see the compressor manufacturer through the grill once it's out of the box. Only buy the item if the compressor is made by QINGAN or HICHLY. I purchased a QINGAN and it is whisper quiet and I could tell the difference in our musty damp basement within 12 hours. I have the hose hooked up right to our sump pump so I am not dealing with the bucket and don't know how much water is being pulled out of the air per hour or anything like that. It was super easy to set up - even the hose hook-up. Home Depot was selling it for $200. I have had it for 3 days so time will tell but I am very pleased so far.
Update 9/15/09: The hose hook-up worked well for about a week. Then, no matter how much care we take to hook it up, the water still goes in the bucket! Instead of the hose connecting to the bottom of the bucket and draining the water as it goes in, LG tries to bypass the bucket completely and just isn't working for us. There is nothing in the trouble shooting guide to help. Everyday we have to empty the bucket and since it is running (still quietly, I might add) in an unfinished basement, we have to remember to go down and see if the bucket is full. LG - you need a better design!!! I would drop the star rating to 3 stars if I was able to change my original star rating.

(More customer reviews)I bought this blender from Sams Club over 3 years ago and it is still working great. I use it every day. I guess some people just got a bad blender. It does crush ice almost as good as the Vita-Mix. I use it to make "green smoothies" because I don't eat a lot and I need to get my fruits and veggies daily. I mix frozen rasberries, blueberries, blackberries, mangos, hemp protein powder, 6 baby carrots, a huge bunch of fresh spinach, and parsley with some pomegranite juice and orange juice and 2 small packages of splenda. It pulverizes the frozen fruits and vegetables to a smooth liquid. Start it out on the lowest setting and let it run because it slowly pulls the ingredients down to the bottom. The directions say to do it that way. Maybe the people whose motor went out started it out on high all the time. Who knows? I thought I needed a Vita-Mix for this but turns out this blender is just as good at no where near the costs.

Black & Decker BL10475 CrushMaster Blender, White Review

(More customer reviews)The first B&D blender lasted 3 uses and then quit. The motor just quit. The seller replaced it with the same model and it died after 3 uses too. Same problem. Granted, these are heavy duty uses. I blend up about 5 quarts of fruits, vegetables, and nuts once a week. This includes carrots, celery, kale, other leafy veggies, onions, cauliflower, brocoli & stems, etc. Nevertheless, I have a 20-year old General Electric blender that still does it OK. If that old work horse can still cut it, these new B&D powerhouses should be able to last a lot longer than 3 uses! It is a powerful blender, but there is just no excuse for two blenders in a row biting it in exactly the same way.

(More customer reviews)This blender does everything we wanted a blender for, from making fruit, yogurt and Kefir smoothies to chopping and liquefying vegetables for drinking. The controls are much better than push buttons. The wave action is excellent for making sure that everything is blended smoothly and leaving no chunks. Blends in much less time than other blenders that we have had, and most of them have been Hamilton Beach. A very pleasant extra is the soft blue light on the bottom of the blender. It provides us with an effective night light in the kitchen, for those nights that we need to get up and stumble out into the kitchen.
Turns out that after a while this blender ends up being an expensive night light. We have not used this blend hard at all, just the two of us. We use it for occasional smoothies and that's about it. It seems to have a thermal switch in it that shuts it off when it starts getting hot. At first it never did shut off when we were using it, but now it shuts off before we are finished and we have to wait a few minuets for it to cool down so we can finish. If I had it to do over again I would give it two stars.

This is important because standard 53 is for the reduction of Lead, Mercury, Benzene, p-Dichlorobenzene,Toxaphene and Carbofuran. You might not have these elements in your water, but you should know what you're paying for!

The unforseen disadvantage is that you must manually fill the unit with water every couple of days. The advantage, however, is that if you use filtered or bottle water the ice cubes are tasteless. In fact, as the ice cubes melt in water, they remain pure and tasteless because they do not share the air of refrigerator the way an automatic ice maker that is built in does. So the ice melts, but you can just add more cubes without tasting all the flavors within your refrigerator.
Sits on the counter top and purrs away making plenty of ice for a family of four.
Terrific product.
