Silikomart Silicone Chocolate Candy Bar Mold Review

Silikomart Silicone Chocolate Candy Bar Mold
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, to clarify from the picture, you only get one mold. The silicone used is very high quality--smooth, strong, flexible. The molded pieces of chocolate are approximately 4-5g each, so filling the mold will take only about 2 ounces of chocolate. The small capacity is my only reason for 4 stars. I wish I had a half or even quarter sheet size mold.
I've been making my own chocolate, and found that pieces molded in this are shiny and look very attractive. The small size means they cool very quickly. Once solid, the chocolates separate very easily from the mold.
Manufacturer's part number is SCG11. Their specs are:
Each piece size: 38x28 h 4,5 mm - 1.49x1.10 h 0.18 inches
Vol. 3.7x12 ml Tot. 44 ml

It's not the icecream, but the family time spent together that makes his item grand! In the winter, I fill the center container with frosting to decorate cupcakes for the holidays. In the fall, we switch to coating and decorating caramel apples. In the summer, I fill the center bowl with salsa or melted cheese, and break out the chips and veggies! Euro-Pro Triple Canister Ice Cream Maker Review

Euro-Pro Triple Canister Ice Cream Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this unit because we were delighted to find an ice cream maker that allows you to make SMALL amounts, and even better, three different flavors (it allows you to make three distinct pints). We used it relentlessly for two weeks, and couldn't manage to make anything thicker than a milkshake. Worse yet, most of the results, when frozen, were like the unfortunate consequences of melted and refrozen ice cream: you get a sweet treat that's as hard as a rock, and impossible to serve unless you have an icepick and a sledgehammer! We weren't willing to put egg in our recipes, but wondering if that was the problem, we tried a vegan egg replacement product: that ended up our most successful batch, but by that point we'd already felt as if we'd had to fight too hard with the darned thing, and we didn't want to be forced to make only recipes that called for eggs, so we returned it. We just ordered a Cuisinart ICE-20 from Amazon to replace it, because a friend has that same unit and it makes absolutely delicious, perfect ice cream! She's made many recipes _without_ egg, and they come out fine.

Rival GC9155 Gel Canister 1-1/2-Quart 2-Piece Electric Ice-Cream Maker Review

Rival GC9155 Gel Canister 1-1/2-Quart 2-Piece Electric Ice-Cream Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I first got this I followed the directions on the box for chocolate cookie ice cream exactly (which specified refrigerating the mixture for 30 minutes and freezing the gel canisters for 24 hours). This gave me something at about the consistency of a runny milkshake. My second try involved refrigerating the mixture for 18 hours and freezing the gel canisters for around 36 hours. That was more of a thick milkshake.
My winning formula was refrigerating the mix overnight and freezing the canisters for a week in a 0 degree (F) deep freezer. This produced fairly soft ice cream, but still definitely ice cream (it did harden in the freezer afterward). I haven't yet experimented to see what the minimum time for a refreeze is, but bringing them down from room temperature the first time took a very long time.
If you want to make smallish batches of ice cream fairly often, then this is the ice cream maker for you. It doesn't require you to get bagged ice to cool the mixture, and the gel canisters collapse to take up less space in your freezer if you just store them there full time. If, on the other hand, you want large batches or only want to make ice cream for special occasions you're probably better off with a bagged ice and rock salt model.

Viatek Duo Treat Ice Cream Maker Review

Viatek Duo Treat Ice Cream Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The air of the normal freezer (at least my freezer) is not cold enough to freeze the mixture fast enough to make smooth ice cream. It doesn't mix fast enough to keep the outer, frozen parts of the mixture stirred in to the center so it stops when the outer part is icy and the center is still liquid - which then freezes too hard to be called ice cream. Also, the cold causes the batteries to drain faster. Can be fun if you have kids and want to make a couple of flavours at once but if you want real ice cream, get a real ice cream maker.
Edited (5 months later) to add: for awhile the Duo Treat was not available. Now that it is available again they have a different picture for it. It's possible they've come out with a new model that addresses some of the problems listed above (then again, maybe not).

VillaWare V5100 Classic Ice Cream & Gelato Maker, Electric Review

VillaWare V5100 Classic Ice Cream and Gelato Maker, Electric

I've read all the reviews and will give you some real concrete reasons not to buy this. I didn't expect this product to do all of the work for me and I understand the reasoning behind some of the directions, such as cooling the mixture before pouring it into the freezing bowl (the bowl will thaw out if you don't!!!!!!!!)I received this and a Cuisinart ice cream maker as gifts at the same time. I decided to keep the VillaWare since I Knew they made industrial machines. I made three batches in my VillaWare, one ice cream, one non-dairy "ice cream" and one sorbet. I just kept thinking "Is this really how it should look?". I was following all of the directions (which aren't as big of a hassle as some would make them out to be!) and I ended up with mildly frozen slush which I had to put in the freezer to make it even remotely firm enough to eat. So, I broke out the Cuisinart that I was going to return and made the exact same sorbet recipe that I had made the previous day. Good thing I did, The Cuisinart batch was more frozen after 5 minutes than the VillaWare after 20 minutes. It produced a nice sorbet that was still soft but firm enough to eat right out of the freezing bowl. These machines operate under the exact same concept so from what I could tell the problem is this; The Villaware bowl doesn't seem to be quite as cold and the paddle that is supposed to scrape the frozen mixture from the side of the bowl isn't close enough to the bowl to scrape enough off to freeze the whole batch. The paddle on the Cuisinart sits right against the side of the bowl and allows the entire batch to freeze and be scraped off and mixed in.
I'll be returning the VillaWare now
Save yourself some time and hassle and buy a Cuisinart

ICE CREAM MAKER Review

ICE CREAM MAKER

I really love this little ice cream maker. I live alone, but often have an extra for dinner, and this is perfect. I had a larger one from when my kids were all at home, and when it died, I knew I wanted a way to make small batches. Homemade ice cream does not store well. I searched for a long time before I made my decision.
This little one is perfect, and it works like a charm. I keep both bowls in the freezer, so I can make two different flavors if I choose. I can't understand how anyone could claim it is hard to clean. The paddle and lid pop apart easily, and into the dishwasher. The freezer bowls take a swish of hot water, dry them and back into the freezer.
Most important -- it works. I make my own yogurt, and easily make frozen yogurt in minutes with no strange ingredients. I set it running while we eat -- usually takes about 10 minutes. I hop up to take the paddle out, and let it sit until we are ready for dessert. A quick stir, and it is perfect consistency. You can make up to 12 oz in one bowl -- perfect for two people. I especially love that it works equally well when I am making just a tiny amount for just me. If you love to experiment with exotic flavors that may be wonderful or awful (or expensive), you can make tiny batches to perfect your recipe.
I've been making ice cream for over 20 years, and I am having more fun than I ever did with my big machine. Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store, makes great ice cream, and is as cute as can be -- what's not to love.

I received this as a Christmas gift, and it works really well. You freeze the bowl, make your mix of whatever you want, and just pop it on and you have soft ice cream in 5 minutes, thicker ice cream in about 10 minutes. Makes 1 large bowl of ice cream, but you can make two batches with the double bowl. Also this doesn't take a whole lot of space up, so it's good if you don't have a whole lot of storage (which I don't). I can't wait to make fruit sorbet and smoothies with fresh fruit in the summer. I really like this because you control all the ingredients, so it's really good if you have food allergies, or diet restrictions. You could make fruit sorbets with spenda or honey - so this would be great if on a diet. The only thing, this doesn't mash fruit - so if you want to make something with fruit and want it really smooth, run it through a blender first. I just chopped a banana really small and it made for some great chunky banana ice cream :) Definetly worth the money- Great Buy!

it's really simple to use. Compared to the traditional ice cream markers this one doesnt require ice and salt. It mixes the cream until it is stiff enough for freezing. The ice cream texture is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! very little air is blended in with the cream mixture. All in all there is just enough air that the machine allows for the smooth and creamy texture. It's truly worth the purchase. My kids and I love it!

White Mountain 4-qt. Electric Ice Cream Maker Review

White Mountain 4-qt. Electric Ice Cream Maker
Average Reviews:

Reviewer: sparksfly - See all my reviews
I have owned a hand-cranked White Mountain 4-quart freezer for twenty-three years. All freezer parts have held up extremely well. White Mountain has a reputation for quality that has withstood the test of decades.
The day before you plan to use the freezer, fill the wooden bucket with water and let it stand overnight. This causes the wood to swell, so the process is neater the next day. Empty the bucket before you set things up to churn.
If you set the churn up on a sturdy plastic stepstool, churning will be easier ergonomically. Use the recommended ice-to-salt ratio and be sure to keep the bucket topped up. As you churn, make sure the drain hole in the bucket doesn't get blocked and the brine flows out freely, or you will have salty ice-cream. It is a good idea to put the whole contraption in a shallow plastic basin to catch the brine, because the brine that drains out will murder grass, corrode metal, and stain some wooden surfaces. Churn slowly until the crank will not budge. The best way to do this is to have a small person sit on a folded towel on top of the churn while folks take turns cranking. After the ice cream is firm, remove the dasher, replace the lid, and put a cork in the hole in the lid. (You may have to buy your own cork.) Drain off as much brine as you can without letting brine slip in through the edge of the lid. Add more of the ice-and-salt mixture, mounding it over the top of the bucket. Cover with the towel and let the ice cream "ripen" for a little while in a cool place.
After serving, put any leftovers in a plastic box in the freezer. If you want to reclaim some of the salt for future use, you can turn the slurry in the bucket out slowly onto several sheets of newspaper, letting the water run off. Let the salt dry thoroughly in the sun. It is important to wash all parts of the churn thoroughly within a few hours of using them, since the salt slurry is highly corrosive.
Kids love the whole process - I frequently tease them into sharing the cranking duties by telling them they may not have any ice cream unless they help.
My favorite flavor is peanut butter! Closely followed by mint-chocolate-chip, Butterfinger, peppermint, peach, strawberry, Heath Bar crunch....

Many summers ago, ice-cream socials centered around families getting together, each cranking out its favorite ice cream for all to enjoy. You can still carry on that tradition (without all the cranking) with this authentic-looking Electric Ice Cream Maker. The White Mountain Freezer company, which crafts these Makers, has been in business for over 145 years and knows all about making ice cream the good old-fashioned way. In fact, they've developed an exclusive method of mixing the ice cream ??? a triple-motion gear action that properly mixes and beats the entire cream contents of the canister, resulting in the smoothest, creamiest ice cream in just 20-30 minutes. Each Maker is equipped with a commercial-grade motor which allows you to stop the freezing process midway as you add fruit, berries or nuts, and restart right afterwards. The aluminum canister is designed for faster freezing, and the cast-iron dasher and blades will never warp out of shape. The freezer tub is made of New England pine that has been sealed, stained, lacquered and bound with strong galvanized hoops.

We purchased our DeLonghi after sampling ice cream made from my Sister-In-Law's Cuisnart machine. Nice fresh ice cream unlike the old days where you had to manually crank a handle...and the results were mixed at best.
Comparing the DeLonghi to the Cuisnart....the DeLonghi is much quiter. And that is a big plus when you have visitors who you don't want to be disturbed and want to entertain. Also the texture of the ice cream is better.
Replying to another customer review appearing for this machine...it DOES make treats with milk and skim milk. All without all the preservatives you will find in over the counter frozen treats from stores. ...
Our first batch didn't turn out great...but it was related to not being familar with our new machine. Ever since...success.
The secret to making a firm treat is to mix your ingredients beforehand and freeze/refrig before adding to the ice cream maker. Add it to the machine and let it work away. Then if you prefer a firmer treat, freeze further for a few hours to overnight.
Another suggestion is to buy the Ben and Jerry ice cream guide. It also states the innovation which I just mentioned above...and gives you many other helpful tips which will solve any issues you might encounter.
Gelato, Sorbet, Ice Cream, Smoothies. All came out well.
