However be advised that you cannot make ordinary sized cookies with it. Something about the CI recipe called for a big scoop. So this will be a single purpose item unless you routinely make huge cookies.

(More customer reviews)I was tired of bending spoons and struggling with cheap tinny ice cream scoops. I have arthritis and not a lot of strength in my hands but this baby does all the work for me making the ice cream easy to dig out of the carton. I love the pointed end for digging in and the substantial handle for managing the dig. If the ice cream is too hard I will warm the scoop with warm water first but I rarely need to do that. Also, once the ice cream is out of the carton, it easily slides off the scoop and into the bowl.
I love the scoop and bought one as a Christmas Gift for a relative who had a good ice cream scoop on their Christmas list.

(More customer reviews)I found this Rosle ice cream scoop is easier to use on hard ice cream for portioning than what I used before, a gelato/ice cream spade. The pointed tip and the round handle together help make round scoops. I use my scoop for both putting scoops of ice cream in a bowl and on a cone but it is a bit slow going for that.
PROS:Well designed for digging into hard ice cream
CONS: It is expensive for a scoop that others say is made in China.

(More customer reviews)It scoops OK if you hold it under hot water between scoops. In hard ice cream, the front end doesn't really help. I can't say this is a bad scoop; but it's no better than cheaper scoops I've had and today I noticed a problem I don't remember ever having (and I'm an old guy).
I ordered this scoop on January 18th. I'm one person and didn't use it much for months, though I've eaten quite a bit of ice cream since hot days started. Today, I saw that the chrome is chipping (or wearing) off. I'm shopping for another, maybe stainless steel?

It has a comfortable grip and cuts through the ice cream much easier than other ice cream scoops. Another thing I like about it is that you can set it down on the counter and the handle is shaped (and weighted) such that it holds the scoop up off the counter. This keeps your counter from getting sticky ice cream residue on it.

(More customer reviews)I picked up this ice cream scoop because it seemed like it would be great being able to push the back of the scoop to get the ice cream out. As it turned out you can't push it in far enough for it to really work well, and I think the plastic/rubber actually sticks to ice cream more than metal does. Ultimately I tossed this and am not looking at new scoops. I love my KitchenAid ice cream spade, but would like an actual scoop since sometimes the spade makes the scoops too wide.

(More customer reviews)I've had this scooper for a couple years now. It has always required a fair bit of effort to get it to go through hard ice cream. This tends to result in having to take shallow strokes and the ice cream coming out in thin slivers. A few weeks ago the "neck" part of the metal scooper slid out of the handle; an internal snap most likely due to the force required to scoop tough ice cream. It was still usable though as long as you kept neutral or downward pressure on it while scooping, which is usually the case anyway. Today the plastic plug in the end of the handle where the neck goes in snapped as well so it all comes apart very easily now. Hopefully I'll be able to manage the next couple of bowl-fulls while I shop for a new, easier to use scoop.
